The British Council has taken an active role in initiating partnerships between higher education (HE) institutions from Romania and the UK. We also encourage collaboration between HE institutions, business, governments, non-government actors, individual academics, departments and community organisations.

The recent Memorandums of Understanding agreed with the Bucharest University of  Economic Studies, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi and the University Politehnica of  Bucharest have provided a collaboration framework to develop the following activities:

  • Workshops on research writing for students involved in postgraduate MA and doctoral study programmes. These will be delivered by the Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication within the Faculty of International Business of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the University of Leicester.
  • Academic leaders from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi will participate in the British Council’s Going Global conference. They will speak on the topic of Global education: knowledge-based economies for 21st century nations.
  • Development of existing strategies in HE through partnerships with UK universities.

Our on-going collaboration with the University of Bucharest will continue this summer through the joint delivery of The Creativity for Excellence summer school. This school will support the development of the creative industries. It aims to foster individual creativity, skill and talent from students in Romania.
