Meet the finalists

Giulia Angheluță

Giulia Angheluță

Giulia is a 3rd year student in General Medicine at UMF Carol Davila in Bucharest. Passionate about neurosurgery, temporarily wanders into the microscopic universe of the human body in the Laboratory of Ultrastructural Pathology and Bioimaging of the Victor Babeş National Institute. She often escapes into the artistic universe, where he sings, paints and recharges his batteries before exam sessions.

Andrei Bordeianu

Andrei Bordeianu

Andrei is a 2nd year medical student in Bucharest. He’s always been passionate about science - he won bronze at the EU Science Olympiad in 2017 and is currently a member of the University's Circle of Excellence in Neuroscience. In his spare time, his passion for science merges with those for music and literature. He plays electric guitar, composes, and his favorite guitarist is Queen’s Brian May.

Ina Maria Carauleanu

Ina Maria Carauleanu

Ina is a first-year student in Computer Science at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara. She likes trying new things, follows her heart and gut in everything she does and says she never regrets anything, because everything she has tried and all the impulsive decisions  she has made have brought her to this point in life.

Ioana Maria Crasan

Ioana-Maria Crasan

Ioana is a 3rd year student in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Biology, University of Bucharest. She has taken drama classes, plays piano and guitar; chemistry and biology are the passions that complete her. She’s been involved in volunteer work since high school and is currently active in the Biology Students’ Association. She joined FameLab because she can mix her artistic side with her scientific one.

Fowzi-Constantin Crașoveanu

Fowzi-Constantin Crașoveanu

Fowzi is 27 year-old engineer and public speaker currently working in IT.  He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, where he is currently working on his PhD. His professional experience of over 9 years covers IT, Telecom and Retail. He wants to humanize technology, and in his personal life he's a loving husband and father, professional basketball player and public speaker.

Bianca-Ioana Guțu

Bianca-Ioana Guțu

Bianca is a 2nd year medical student in Bucharest. She chose to study medicine because she's always been passionate about how the human body works, and was later drawn to the mysteries of genetics. She is currently on the faculty's neuroscience research team, where she studies epilepsy on murine models. She has practiced dancing and ballet since she was 4, and hopes to bring the same grace into the operating room too one day.

Tudor Hîrlea

Tudor Hîrlea

Tudor is a 4th year medical student passionate about research and science communication. He’s involved in numerous coordination and volunteering activities, and most recently he implemented an online platform designed to bring students closer to research. He disconnects by reading literature, philosophy or learning German. He joined FameLab out of a desire to engage with other people who share his passion for science communication.

Mădălina Elena Lazăr

Mădălina Elena Lazăr

When she was little, Madalina dreamed of becoming a ballerina. Instead, she became a medical student, now studying - instead of dancing - on classical music. She wants to be a professor and help students fall in love medicine, but she also dreams of being a writer. She’s passionate about literature, languages, history and physics. FameLab offered her the opportunity to mix her creativity and passion for medicine to make science accessible.

Carmen-Valentina Nicolae

Carmen-Valentina Nicolae

Carmen's been passionate about science and technology ever since she was a kid. Motivated by her natural curiosity, her path to medical engineering and research was organic, mixing scientific concepts with state-of-the-art technologies to implement them. As an engineer, she always finds simple solutions for complex issues, and her spare time is divided between yoga, travel, film photography and video games.

Mălina Strugaru

Mălina Strugaru

Mălina is a 3rd year physics student in Iaşi. She likes interdisciplinary projects and she’s passionate about computational physics. She believes no one should be scared of physics or math, and that the best feeling in the world is when you help a student get over their fear of equations and discover how science is not rigid and impersonal, but cool and versatile. She’s a grammar freak, and in her spare time she likes to dance, read and watch musicals.
