FameLab 2021 - Science for a better future

With a FameLab alumni network covering researchers and science professionals working in over 200 universities, research centres or government bodies across the world, FameLab is the world's largest community and competition for science communicators.

The theme of the 2021 FameLab competition in Romania is "Science for a better future", and participants are encouraged, through their short talks, to help the audience understand the fundamental role that scientific discoveries and technological developments play in solving the major issues our world is facing.

Science communication is a growing priority for researchers around the world

The recent crisis has reaffirmed the importance of science communication in shaping the way our societies respond.

Good science communication helps inspire new generations, contributes to a better understanding of research, and allows scientists to access funding and justify public expenditure, in order to continue their work.

Clear, easy-to-grasp science communication, in the FameLab format, also helps to bridge gaps in scientific education across communities and helps us better understand and filter the scientific truth from fiction, thus limiting the spread of false information and pseudo-science.

See the best young science communicators across Romania in action in the FameLab Romania 2021 final! Tune in on 17 June
