Shakespeare Lives at Sibiu International Theatre Festival
Date
Saturday 11 June 2016 - 12:00 to Sunday 19 June 2016 - 12:00

At the Sibiu’s International Theatre Festival, British Council presents "The Complete Walk" series produced by Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, part of the "Shakespeare Lives" programme. All 37 films in the series, created after Shakespeare’s plays, will be presented on the following days: 11, 12, 18 and 19 June 2016, starting 12.00 p.m., in the inner courtyard of the History Museum.

Each short film successively explores one of Shakespeare’s plays and includes scenes from the locations imagined by the author: Cleopatra standing in front of the Pyramids, Shylock in the old Jewish Ghetto from Venice, Hamlet on the rocks of Elsinore and many more. These scenes will be mixed with excerpts from the “Silent Shakespeare” series, produced by BFI, together with fragments from our own filmed productions of the “Globe on Screen” series. Having a phenomenal distribution, including some of the best actors worldwide, “Shakespeare Lives” is an extraordinary celebration of life, work and heritage left to us by the great playwright, 400 years after his passing.

Location: Altemberger House - The History Museum (Mitropoliei Street, 2, Sibiu, 550179, Romania)

Program: 11, 12, 18, 19 June, starting at 12:00
