Welcome to Diagon Alley!

This February, join us in celebrating the magic of Hogwarts and let your imagination guide you in discovering the most fascinating and bizarre magical items! For Harry Potter Book Night, an event celebrated across Romania with our friends at Arthur publishing house, our library is running an illustration competition for Harry Potter fans of all ages.

What would you get from the shops in Diagon Alley?

Diagon Alley is known for its unique shops dedicated to the most skilled wizards! What would you buy once you got into this magical universe? Unleash your imagination and win one of our prizes!

How to join the competition

Draw one of the fantastic objects or animals that you would like to buy from the shops on the enchanted alley and send us a photo of your creation at rsvpevents@britishcouncil.ro by 26 February 2021.

Don't forget to mention:

  • the name of the author
  • the author's age
  • the author's / author's legal guardian contact details

Who can enter the competition

Anybody! We believe that magic and creativity can be found in each of us, so we welcome illustrations from participants of all ages.

The illustrations will be evaluated by an independent jury for all five age categories (0-6 years; 7-11 years; 12-15 years; 16-18 years and adults over 18 years)

The evaluation criteria are:

  • Respecting the proposed theme (20 points)
  • Originality (50 points)
  • Artistic representation - technique, spatial framing, chromatic harmony, etc (30 points)

The winners will be announced on 1 March 2021. The winning illustrations as well as their authors will be promoted on our website and Facebook page.

Although we encourage the illustration of fantastic objects or animals as diverse as possible, we reserve the right to remove from the competition works that do not fall within the proposed theme and/or go against our diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity guidelines.
