Join us on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Friday 3 December, between 16.00 - 19.00, for an exclusive webinar for teachers delivered by Special Education Needs (SEN) expert Joanne Newton and English for the Community Local Facilitator Cristina Pop, to:
- Improve your awareness and understanding of disability and special educational needs;
- Discover and discuss models and approaches for the inclusion of learners with disabilities and special educational needs in Romanian classrooms;
- Develop insight into the crucial part you play as a teacher in creating and maintaining inclusive classrooms in which all children are invited, expected and able to learn.
This webinar is delivered within the 'English for the Community' teacher development programme run by the British Council in Romania in partnership with the Romanian-American Foundation.

About the trainer
Joanne Newton has 23 years’ international experience as a Teacher, Teacher Trainer and Manager for the British Council and International House, including involvement in teacher development projects with Ministries of Education.
She has worked as a facilitator for the British Council’s Teaching Special Educational Needs course, as well as being extensively involved with Cambridge Assessment as a tutor on the CELTA, CELTYL, ICELT and DELTA courses. From 2015 to 2020, Joanne was the project lead for an EU-funded programme in Inclusive Education in South Africa called ‘Teaching for All’.
Joanne is passionate about inclusive quality basic education for all learners and enjoys introducing teachers to inclusive teaching strategies and making them feel more confident about inclusion in classrooms and schools.
