Starting 15 November, the ”Dinicu Golescu” National High School will host the ”British Documentary” screenings in the Ceremony Hall. Until 12 June, 9 documentaries will be screened, all winners or nominees of the Grierson Film Festival in recent years.
The series will begin with the Academy Award and BAFTA winner - ”Searching for Sugar Man”; some of the other screenings are built around spectacular artistic personalities, such as Lucian Freud - the painter, Leo Tolstoy - the writer and rock-icon David Bowie.
The themes of the documentaries are varied, starting from science (”The Joy of Logic”) to urban history (”The Tube: An Underground History”), mass-media and manipulation, religious conflicts in today's world ("Close-up: Freedom to Broadcast hate") and social topics ("The Imposter", "Last Chance School").
