Come and discover the world with our flexible one-week courses in a relaxed and fun English-speaking environment! You’ll explore the world around us and our impact on it, castles and fortresses, discover ancient civilisations, find out about spectacular sports and remarkable inventions. The programme is structured in one-week stand-alone modules. Each module consists of 10 hours of English classes divided into 2 one hour lessons a day, and 10 hours of activities and projects in English. The lessons are designed to cater for children’s natural curiosity about the world and are project-based.

With Summer in the City your child will practice their English and have fun throughout summer in a relaxed positive learning environment. Weekly themes. he first five weeks mirror the last five, so that week 1 will be the same theme as week 6, week 2 the same as week 7, and so on. Depending on the child's level of English, tested for free with us, you can choose from two types of thematic weeks: discovery and journey.

Discovery themes

All about me

All about me focuses on learning and expressing basic information about ourselves. What is your favourite colour? What do you like? Come along and let us know and learn lots more too! 

My picnic

What food do you like? What would you put in your picnic basket? Come and tell us, and learn lots more too! 

My puppet

Let’s play with puppets! What does your puppet look like? How many eyes has your puppet got? What clothes is it wearing? Come along and let us know, and learn a whole lot more too! 

At the farm

Let’s go to the farm! What animals can you see? How many are there? What do they look like? Come on, let’s go! 

At the park

Let’s go to the park! What activities do you like? What can you do? Tell us and learn a whole lot more too!

Journey themes

Me and my world Me and My World focuses on the world around us, as well as our impact on it. What is your city like? What do you know about other cities, countries and continents? Do you know how to help our environment? Come along and let us know and learn lots more too!
Medieval tales

Medieval tales focuses on the theme of exploring major styles of castles and fortifications. Did you know that a boy born into a knight’s family at the age of 7 would be sent to another castle where he trained to become a knight?

Spectacular sports

Spectacular Sports focuses on a range of sports and activities, as well as places, equipment, actions and sports events. What’s your favourite sport? How often do you play it? Come along and let us know, and learn a whole lot more too!

Ancient civilizations

Ancient Civilisations focuses on the theme of amazing people and cultures from the past. Travel back in time and discover exciting new people and places in Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt and other exciting places. Come on, let’s go!

Remarkable inventions

Remarkable Inventions focuses on the theme of inventors and scientists, inventions and gadgets, and amazing discoveries. Do you know any famous inventors and scientists? What’s your favourite gadget? What invention could you not live without? Tell us during this week of remarkable inventions!

What will your child do? With Summer in the City 2025, your child will...

  • listen to stories that explore different sides of the chosen theme
  • learn specific vocabulary for and practise it through games
  • learn songs related to the theme
  • discuss the theme with teachers and class mates
  • complete a series of arts and crafts projects and worksheets

Registration - All participants must have their level of English language fluency assessed through a free placement test offered by the British Council.
