What is Edmodo?
Edmodo is the educational platform our teachers use to inform students about what has happened in class or what they should prepare for next time. Sometimes, they even publish links to extra activities and worksheets for our students to further improve their knowledge beyond the content of the course books.
To maximize your progress while attending our English courses, we strongly recommend that you join our online student portal to supplement and enhance your learning.
The advantages of joining Edmodo
As a current student of our Teaching Centre, you will be able to use Edmodo for free. Here are some of its key features:
- Staying up to date
As mentioned, teachers will regularly update their students on what has been covered in class and what the homework is. - Option to message the teacher
We know that sometimes our students can't make it to class, because of health issues or unexpected changes to their schedules. Students can send direct messages to the account of their class teachers to inform them they will be missing one or several lessons. - Keeping in touch with classmates
Students can easily communicate with their colleagues about what they've learned in class, but they can also share other ideas among themselves. - Parents can observe their children's activity
While for Early Years and Primary Infants groups we encourage the parents to join as students, for the age groups with children above 8 years of age, the parents will create accounts separate from theirs. These will allow them to watch what is being published by the teacher, but also to check up on what their child is writing. A parent can only see his child's activity and will not be able to see what other children are posting in the group. - Updates on British Council products and events
Depending on the time of the academic year, we might use our administrative account called British Council to publish information about upcoming events, competitions or freshly launched products (e.g. free MOOCs) which fit our students' age group and English level.
How does it work?
In the email you have received from our Customer Services Team, you can find a join link (for new students) and an Access code (for returning or recently transferred students).
To see how you are supposed to use them, please check the instructions available below, depending on the category you and/or your child identify with.
