We are looking to recruit talented, self-employed teachers of English to join our teaching team in Bucharest. These positions will start either in July or September 2015, depending on candidate availability and customer needs.

Role overview

The role involves:

  • working closely with a teaching mentor to develop teaching skills according to an agreed plan
  • promoting and ensuring quality teaching and effective learning of English and Skills through English
  • supporting the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission
  • promoting the British Council Romania and the British Council Romania's reputation, including support for the British Council's Child Protection Policy.

How to apply

Teachers of English will have a certified C2 level of proficiency (e.g. Cambridge CPE or IELTS Band 8.5) received within the past two years and will ideally hold the Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TEFL. There may be the possibility of British Council sponsoring the right candidate to complete a CELTA (or equivalent) during the summer of 2015.  
As this is a development post, we will provide a structured mentoring programme for the right candidate(s) including guided lesson planning, classroom observations and Professional Development sessions.
